Quotes That Get Me Through

Here are some of my favorite quotes as of late that are really hitting home for me in all the different challenges, questions, struggles, sleepless nights, tears & near-surrenders that never cease to crop up. My hope is that one or more of these speaks to you & is maybe something you needed to hear this week.

“The failure of our understanding can help us. When we reach the end of what we know, that’s where we find God.” —The Cloud of Unknowing

—> for when I forget that there is so much more than what I understand

“Drowning, I surrendered, and discovered I could breathe under water.” -Mirabai Starr

—> for when I’m too busy panicking about the place I’m in to realize—wait— I’m actually fine

“The most powerful way to bring about change in others is not trying to bring about change in the other but to completely accept the other as he or she is.”
-Eckhart Tolle

—> for when I tirelessly try to change others (and myself) into the version I want them/me to be and ignore the crucial first step: complete & total acceptance as is

“What should I say about your tendency to doubt your struggle or to harmonize your inner and outer life? My wish is ever strong that you find enough patience within you and enough simplicity to have faith. May you gain more and more trust in what is challenging, and confidence in the solitude you bear. Let life happen to you. Believe me: life is in the right in any case.” -Rainer Maria Rilke

—> for when I get caught up trying to control my life & have all the answers immediately, everyday, all the time
